Homework, Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 plus a Message

Parents,

I apologize for the delay in getting the homework up on this site. Suddenly and without warning, I can no longer utilize the site at school. It must be on an "Access Denied" status. When I have meetings after school as I did today, I can't get the homework posted until I get home. Sometimes all I think about is getting dinner ready, feeding the pets, etc., and then I remember! Let's see how it goes. I've looked at teacher sites, and although they look good, they're mired in ads including lots of pop-ups. These sites are just plain annoying. So...I'll try my best to post as early as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Math: complete today's handout

Reading: 30 min.

Wordly Wise 6B

Incan writing: those who did not complete the assignment yesterday must turn in tomorrow.

Next week we have TWO FIELD TRIPS! First, we walk to Politics and Prose; next we take the bus to The Textile Museum to experience a display on patterns with a hands-on activity. Can't wait! We'll need two dollars for the bus! Thanks.

Homework and a Message

Hello Parents!

It was great to meet with many of you today to discuss your child's progress, and I look forward to upcoming appointments. If you haven't made one, please do contact me. We can meet any time before or after school.

We have a field trip this Wednesday to Discovery Creek to see an Argentine puppet show. We'd like to have four parent volunteers on this trip since we will travel by metro. The trip starts at 9:30, and we should return by noon at the latest. Hope you can join us!

Tonight's homework:

Homework for Thursday and a Message

Wordly Wise E plus study for vocabulary and spelling tests.

Math: handout

Essay Topic: What does a good audience look and sound like?
How will you improve your behavior on our next field trip (include
the correct way to ride the metro while representing John Eaton)?

Parents, we will need more volunteers on the trips where we ride the metro, especially during rush hour. The children were quite rowdy and didn't represent our school in the way that was expected of them even though we laid the groundrules before leaving the classroom. Please have a talk with your children about orderly, polite behavior while riding the metro and the finer points of audience participation. Thanks!

Homework for Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Math: Page 38 in CMJ plus handout
Reading: 30 minutes. Parent should sign the reading log each evening.
Wordly Wise: A and B.

I'm having trouble posting from school and home. It's taken me hours to get this post going! I'll look into the problem; sorry for the delay in posting.

I'd be remiss if I didn't credit Ms. Ramsey with her idea for the TAS assessment. She came up with the wonderful idea to integrate math with our study of Argentina. Ms. Roubin assisted us with writing up the outline into a wonderful lesson plan.

Have a great evening!

Susan
