WW 9 C and D
Coti Math: Handout
Reading: Summary of Literature Circle Book. Did you enjoy the book? Were there any characters you felt you'd like to be friends with? Why or why not?
Social Studies: Finish the handout we've been working on in class for the past two days. Due tomorrow!
Parents,
The results of the latest DC-Bas are in. We closed the gap in Informational Text in Reading!
We've slipped a bit in Measurement, but closed the gap in Patterns. We're targeting the areas we need to work on and will continue to study the data so that we reach each and every child. Thanks for all your support!
The reading projects from the last literature circle groups were outstanding! From dioramas to dictionaries, from websites to 3-D posters, clay figurines and oral reports, the students did an outstanding job!

Thursday and Friday, November 4 and 5
Thursday, Nov. 4:
Wordly Wise E plus study for spelling and vocab. tests
Coti Math: CMJ, pages 52-54.
Any literature circle work must be completed in time for presentations tomorrow.
Field Trip to Textile Museum.
Friday, Nov. 5:
Our field trip to the Textile Museum went without a hitch. Taking the bus was a novel experience, and the students were very calm and collected both on the way down and on the way back. It was a straight shot down Connecticut Avenue. What a great way to travel! Thanks Michelle Koerner for suggesting the bus and getting the tokens. The museum itself has a very interesting exhibit on 19th century robes from Central Asia. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Our last field trip of 2010 takes place on Wednesday, November 10 to Discovery Theatre and the International Center. This promises to be a fantastic experience. Not only will the students view Argentine Dance, but they will have the opportunity to explore more Argentine culture at the International Center after the show. We have three hands-on activities planned. Please complete the permission slip and send in with $6 (show, metro). On the day of the show, please send your child to school with a bag lunch. Thanks!
Tawid had his tonsils removed and will not be in school for most of next week. I've assigned the class to make get-well cards for him this weekend. I'll give them to his mother on Monday so we can help cheer him!
Have a great weekend!
